I am impressed with the wonderful service which Thaku Parivar is rendering selflessly in Punjab, Delhi and elsewhere.
Myself had also occasions to meet Shri Dharm Paul Ji, the previous successor of Shri Thakurji Maharaj as well as the present successor respected Mataji. The devotees of Thakurji are blessed souls who are doing their individual sadhana and also are engaged in the service of man-kind. I am delighted to know that the Sunshine charity Trust is bringing out a SOUVENIR to propagate its message and mission containing treasure of spiritual knowledge, service and humanity to wean away people from purely material pursuits and to reestablish ancient Indian values.

Today I received your letter of 22.4.94 inviting me to send a message to your souvenir. I gladly do so herewith.
The Sunshine Charity Trust is doing dedicated services to the people since 12 years. Its founder and inspirer, the late Dharm Paul was very intimate with me when I was a secretary of the Delhi Ramakrishna Mission in 1950s. There are two ways of relating oneself to other human beings; one is exploitation, the other is service. The first leads to peacelessness and suffering, while the second leads to joy, happiness and general human welfare. Swami Vivekananda, therefore, gave this message of service to modern India. ‘Renunciation and service are twin ideals of India; Intensify here in these channels, and the rest will take care of itself’.

I am thankful and grateful to Sri Sita ram Dhawanji for the favour and privilege he has bestoed upon me in order that I may contribute the following few lines of my deep love, regard and impressive appreciation of dearly beloved Papaji, on the occasion of his happy & auspicious Birthday this year, which falls on 25th January 1995
I met Papaji (Dharma Pal Ji) several times during my stay at the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi. It was to me a most gratifying, glorifying and personally heartwarming experience to meet, talk with, and even freely exchanges views with Papaji on various spiritual, cultural, social and human ideas and values.
He was an enlightened soul of all-round knowledge, devotion, and action. His great love for all, like that of a devoted fond mother towards her children, was tenderly sweet, blissfully inspiring and spontaneously filled with divine grace and protection for those who came to him for his help and guidance.
Devotees and dedicated services were to him the life of his life. As he himself was a great devotee, who could be called “Bhakta Shiromani, he radiated spiritual influence and spiritual love towards one and all.
Hundreds of devotees, men and women, young and old, were attracted to him. They looked upon him as their beloved and respected “Papa ji”, and offered at his feet whatever they could afford in order to support and sustain the various humanitarian and philanthropic activities which he was conducting and guiding.
His approach to all who came to seek his advice was through “Love” only. With an unruffled and joyful temperament at all times, he never let others know, what for all were some of his own problems or difficulties in conducting and finding needed resources for the free and charitable service activities for the poor, the needy and the helpless classes of our nation.
Papaji lived a simple but seriously and spiritually dedicated life, caring & praying for the welfare of each and every one who came to him for guidance or assistance. The best way to give Papaji our love and devotion is to follow his great and good teachings and directions. We shall honor him and pay our homage to him daily by practicing in our life what he has taught us through his own exemplary life – namely the ideal of service to humanity and worship of Divinity. Divinity is in humanity and humanity is the full manifestation Divinity & God. Papaji is the eternal living ideals & example

Extremely happy to receive your kind letter written on 15th Oct. with all details but very much shocked to learn the sad news that our beloved and devoted Dharm Paul left his mortal body and reached the adobe of God. Whenever I wrote to him he used to reply immediately but since some months there was no news from him and I have been wondering why: I am very much grieved to know the date on which he left us. I trust his last days were spent happily and peacefully. I know fully that he is God-conscious, devoted and always serving humanity by establishing Charitable trust and running a big hospital in Delhi to serve sick and needy. His body is no more but his soul is always alive in the hearts of his devotees perpetuating his memory. His life is very precious sacred and dedicated and very useful to God’s children. We very rarely come across such noble souls. I am delighted to know that you are walking in his footsteps and striving for the progress of the Trust. My thoughts and prayers are always with you wishing all success. May His will be done !
Our dear Dharm Paul is very dear and near to Santhi Ashram having great interest and love towards the ashram. He was kind enough to translate Swamiji’s writings into Urdu and publish in Delhi newspapers. We very much appreciate his work and can never forget. May all glory to Him ! Of Sir W. Frere it is said that when a man came to meet him and could not find him , he was told that he should search for a tall man busy helping some in need .

Years ago , I met one such tall man in Delhi , and I felt that my pilgrimage to that placed was fulfilled. Shri Dhrampaul spends much of his time in his silence corner , shedding tears of love and longing for the First and only Fair , the one Beloved in need of every heart . When he comes out of his silence , he is always busy helping some He is a picture of silent service . His life teaches us the great lesson that we must serve not by cries and clamour , but by silent work . We have for a long time . confounded work with noise We do a little work we create much noise . We spend our strength in tumults and shouts . There is so much of show and ostentation in our service . True strength is in silent work . The strength of silent work is what India needs , today For today , in our public life there is lovelessness , there is the desire to shine and be great . The secret of true strength is in the life of those who serve silently .


Shri Dharmpaul ji is a picture of loving service . He identifies himself with those he serves You are not apart from me , " he says to them , " you are a part of me , "

The Dispensary , working under his beneficient guidance and inspiration , is a witness to the great ideal of silence and loving service . May it grow , from more to more unto the glory of God , in the service of suffering humanity !
