Param Vaishnav Annat Shri Thakur Shri Chand Ji Maharaj ( Mahaprabhu Shri Thakur Ji Maharaj ) श्री ठाकुर श्री चंद जी महाराज
Shri Thakur Shri Chand Ji Maharaj was born on 10th September, 1910 on Saturday at His Maternal Grandfather's house at village Shuka Kalan (District Gujrat, Now in Pakistan). His father shri Thakur Ganga Vishnu ji Maharaj and mother Smt. Raj karni ji were both a pair of purity, Chasity, and divinity, completely rooted in god's love and fully dedicated to the worship of the lord with all the strength of their mind and heart. when the divine child was 45 years old, mata Raj Karni ji brought him to Kunjah. where her husband Shri Thakur Ganga Vishnu Ji was immensely pleased to see his lovely celestial child. Shri Thakur Ganga Vishnu Ji was head of Gaddi Thakran. Established in 1600 AD by Shri Thakur Aadi Bhavani Sahay Ji, who was succeeded by Shri Thakur Anand Rup Ji, Shri Thakur Lakshmi Narain Ji (Birth Year-1743), Shri Thakur Ram Ji Dass , Shri Thakur Shiv Dayal Ji, and Shri Thakur Ganga Vishnu Ji Respectively. Right from his birth Gurudeva was endowed with supreme virtues and great attributes. he was Hardly eight year old when he was blessed with a distinct vision of Shri Radhavallabh Ji, with the result that he was His divine image in all creation, in all forms and figures as his divine images. He brought up a puppy and nourished it day and night with utter fondness, so much so that he felt immense pleasure to kiss the puppy's face and feed him with his own hands, and make it sleep on his own bed. seeing him last in loving the puppy, his father rebuked him for his unhygienic hobby, but Gurudeva (fondly called Shri Brij Bhushan) said: "beloved father, I see the lord in the puppy also, as you had told me that he resides and abides in all the creations." Gurudeva was hardly 10 years old when his father left for heavenly abode. Shri Thakur Ganga Vishnu Ji was succeeded by his eldest son Shri Thakur Tej Nath Ji Maharaj who was live a very short life and left for heavenly abode in 1928. forcing his younger brother Shri Chand ji to give up his studies incomplete. Shri Chand ji was one of the most shinning, academically brilliant, effiable and popular student at the govt. college, Lahore. but he had to discontinue his studies and take up the heavy responsibilities of looking after the affair of the spiritual practices seat, Gaddi Thakran. he soon plunged deep in austerities and various spiritual practices to realise the self and to taste the bliss of eternity. he was blessed by the divine vision of supreme father lord Shiva who baptised him with the "divine Mantra". He was so much enraptured by the divine grace that he used to say that "Lord shiva is my real Father, my Preceptor and my Gurudeva." He was married to Pujya Mata Kaiashwati Ji on 27th February 1932. The young couple went to Shri Radhavallabh Temple, at vrindavan. consecrating his spouse at the lotus feet of the Lord, he said with choked voice:" Lord! you alone are the male and we both shall always serves you as your maid-servants with all whole hearted humble devotion." He Returned to his native town of Kunjah. and he took the solemn vow of ceaseless sadhana and selfless service. to all the suffering humanity. later on, in his active ministry of pure and unalloyed spiritualism, he laid all stress on god-remembrance and non-egoistic service to others. he not only practised the different schools of Hindu-spirituality but also the different religious beliefs and faiths. he practised Christian and Mohammedan codes of worship, remaining completely forgetful of the Hindu idols or deities during those practises. when his spouse came to Gujrat railway station enroute to Kunjah, she was taken aback by breathing-taking surprise to see her husband donning a 'kurta' and 'tehmat'-the conventional dress of Muslim, whereas he used to put on Rajasthani coat (Achkan) and churidaar pyjama with a well-brooded Turban. at the time, he was passing through his crucial discipline and was practising silence, using sparse words. he was always reciting holy stanzas from Quran or Persian couplets of mystic saints like Hafiz and Saadi. he used to spent most of the time all alone, bolting his apartment from inside. with anxious and aching mind when pujya mataji (w/o Thakur ji) once peeped into his secluded room, she was stunned to see that Gurudeva performing Salah (Namaz) like a devout Muslim. he also practised Christian ways and modes off prayer and made grand experiment with multifarious modes and different disciplines of other religious beliefs undergoing crippling austerities. he successfully passed through most different and extremely difficult practices and reconciled the conflict between Dualism and Nondualism realizing the oneness of god and harmony and unity of all religions. In 1947,at the time of Partition of India, he migrated to Delhi, and for some time he stayed with his brother-in-law (who was Major in the Indian Army) House, near supreme court complex. All Faith Harmonized After Indo-Pak Partition In 1949, acceding to repeated, fervent requests and prayers of some of his devotees, he shifted to Lalbagh, Azadpur, on G.T karnal Road, Delhi, where many devotees and seekers sought his advice and refuge. Many souls went to him and he was proclaimed as a constant guardian, a true Gurudeva and a divine torch bearer, an open channel to God- Realisation. he showered eternal love and gave protection to all, big or small, rich or poor, transcending all limitations and barriers of religion, caste, creed, colour and cult. To plough the seeds of love and purity, he organised many yajnas and Akhand paath of Shri Ramcharitra manas, In year 1953 and 1954 He organised 15 day akhand paath of Sri Ramcharitra manas at Garhmukteshwar , each lasting about a month, at Sapta-sarovar Ashram near Haridwar on Vyas puja days. Invariably they were a marvellous feast of the souls and elicited high praise and most profound appreciation from the Hindu spiritual teachers and saints, including Goswami Ganesh Dutta Ji, who said to Shri Thakur Ji : " While I have been organising various branches of Sri Santana Dharam Sabha and opening many temples, you are laying the foundation of an unique temple within the hearts of aspirants. Your shrine is of the highest order and I salute to You." After having reached the highest summit of blissful spiritual realization, he declared that karma, Jnana, Bhakti and Yoga are just components of one glorious path to the supreme Goal. His precepts and he confirmed his own life which he built upon the strong edifice of non-attached action. Thus the controversial between different ways and paths was resolved by Shri Thakur ji Maharaj like Paramahansa Ramakrishna, harmonising all religious paths and faiths. He worshipped Lord Almighty as suggested by various religions and came to conclusion that is summed up beautifully in His golden words: “Yaad hi Teri hai sab dharmo ka raaz Yaad se hazir hai Tu banda nawaz “ Shri Thakur Ji Maharaj characterised love as the most fundamental, the sum-total of all religions and he stressed the need of channelizing selfless love into the service of other, treating non-egoistic service as the worship of the supreme lord. deeply rooted in the universal religion of loving service to other. he say:" I am far above religious labels. All the religious and faiths abide in me." he laid great stress on charity and Unselfishness service to others. he said:" Shri Rama is the very embodiment of Love and compassion, therefore, each aspirant must try to lesson the burden of the other soul, by lending selfless help to all those who need it." he used to recite a couplet, which he himself has composed: Har Quam ki Sadain,Har Mat ki Iltajain, Aati Hai Paas Mere, Kya Shaam Kya Sawere. ( in Hindi : हर कौम की सदाऐं , हर मत की इल्तिजाएं । आती है पास मेरे, क्या शाम क्या सवेरे ।। ) ( Meaning: Prayers of all the nations and supplications of all the faiths ceaselessly reach me day and night.) In 1956, He cut off his all physical ties with external world and entered into seclusion, soaring higher and higher into the unknown realms. instead of climbing to some lonely to do penance or retiring to some secluded place in dense wood, he turned his living room into "Tapaschariya Kutir" and plunged deep, to the deepest depth to be blessed with Bhrampad. He forced his wife and Children to leave him alone. Loving Service as Worship Penance of 1956 He immersed Himself in ‘Ram Naam’ and His Love for Lord Almighty. He didn’t select any difficult terrain or cave of mighty Himalaya for His ‘Tapsaya’ but chose His room at Lal Bagh for it and made it impossible for anybody else to enter it. He remained in this room for 23 years. Many miracles happened in His Penance. But Shri Thakur Ji Maharaj never accepted the credits for it. Many people were cured of physical ailments, emotional turmoil, financial difficulties and other problems. Even a boy was brought back to life but Gurudeva declined the credit. He always held the view that it is Shri Rama who does it.\after 23 long years of intense, mysterious spiritual practices, he realized the greatest truth and he gave up his physical seclusion and shifted to G-3/76, Model town, Delhi in September 1976. It was only a change of this abode as his soul has reached to highest horizon, which is far beyond all human conceptions and all intellectual flights. truly, he is the Vristha- Avatar, the holiest manifestation of supreme lord, truly a jiwan-Mukta who lives for the sake, help, support and redemption of the suffering humanity. He left his mortal coil on the night of 30th May 1986 and was cremated next day in a Samadhi (shrine) near his penance room at Shri Lakshmi Narain Satsang (Regd.), Lalbagh, Azadpur, Delhi-110033. All our most soulful obeisance and respectful salutation at his lotus feet. he is God in Human form. Selfless love Incarnate- Shri Thakur Ji Maharaj
